Student Expectations Policy

Shenandoah Valley Music Camp is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment for all students. The following expectations apply to all participants.

General Expectations

Students are expected to:

• Show respect toward fellow students, instructors, staff, and volunteers

• Follow directions from instructors and camp staff

• Participate positively and to the best of their ability

• Treat instruments, equipment, and facilities with care

• Use appropriate language and behavior at all times

Safety & Behavior

To ensure the safety of all participants, the following behaviors are not permitted:

• Bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind

• Physical aggression, unsafe actions, or rough play

• Use of inappropriate or offensive language

• Leaving designated camp areas without permission

• Misuse or intentional damage of instruments or facilities

Participation & Preparedness

Students are expected to arrive on time, be prepared for activities, and bring any required materials or instruments as communicated prior to camp.

Electronic devices are discouraged during camp hours unless permitted by staff for instructional purposes.

Consequences

If a student does not meet behavior expectations, the following steps may be taken:

1. Verbal reminder or redirection

2. Temporary removal from the activity and parent/guardian notification

3. Dismissal from the program if behavior continues or poses a safety concern

Dismissal due to behavior may occur without refund, as outlined in the Terms and Conditions.

Respect for Learning Environment

SVMC aims to create a positive, inclusive atmosphere where all students feel safe and supported. Students are expected to contribute to this environment through kindness, cooperation, and responsible behavior.

Parent & Guardian Support

Parents and guardians play an important role in student success. SVMC appreciates family support in reinforcing expectations and addressing behavior concerns when necessary.

Acknowledgment

By enrolling in Shenandoah Valley Music Camp, parents and guardians acknowledge that they have reviewed this policy with their student and agree to support its enforcement.
